Bravus brings the best of mining to QME

Bravus Mining & Resources will help showcase the skill, innovation, and responsible practices of the resources sector when the Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition (QME) starts in Mackay today.

The company will take centre stage in the Mining House Pavilion alongside a packed roster of more than 250 exhibitors for the three-day celebration of all things Queensland mining.

Bravus’ Head of Community Kate Campbell said the team was excited to discuss the job, training, and supplier opportunities on offer as the Carmichael mine moved from strength to strength in operations.

“The Carmichael Project was still navigating the Queensland and Commonwealth approvals processes when the QME was last held in 2018,” Ms Campbell said.

“To return to the QME in 2022 with our greenfield mine and railway now built, producing, and exporting really puts the achievements of more than 2,600 regional Queenslanders into sharp focus.

“Carmichael is the story of how much the coal industry can contribute to our regional Queensland economies now and well into the future as we supply much-needed thermal energy alongside renewables to help lift people overseas out of poverty.

“It’s an exciting industry to be a part of as we see demand for Australia’s export coal growing.”

Ms Campbell said opportunities at Carmichael extended across a range of operational, maintenance and planning and managerial roles, both with Bravus and its contractors like MacKellar Group.

“We all know the mining industry offers a range of fulfilling careers in well paid, highly skilled jobs that last a lifetime,” she said.

“Carmichael adds to that with advantages like a near brand-new mining fleet and direct flights to and from site from Townsville and Rockhampton so you get to maximise your R&R.

“Instead of driving hours and hours at the end of your swing you can be launching the boat or watching the Cowboys at the pub with your mates instead!

“We’re determined to continue to support the communities that supported us so passionately and give back to them through jobs, contracts, and other economic investment.

“So if you’re interested in making a career in mining or want to know more about our business and why we believe coal will be a vital part of a sustainable energy mix for decades to come, stop by our stall and say hi to the team.”

The QME runs at the Mackay Showgrounds until Thursday 21 July. Admission is free of charge to anyone with a professional or commercial interest in the mining industry.
